On September 5th, only a few short days away,20 of the world’s finest horses are set to run 1.25 miles in the most exciting and largest sporting event of the year. This year Tiz the Law is favoured to win by a mile with odds of -130 followed by Art Collector at +500 and Honor A Pat +750.

Tiz the Law’s short odds are due to having the best track record out of the 20 horses in the race. He has won six out of the seven races of his career, which include his last four races of 2020.

This year’s Kentucky Derby was adversely affected due to coronavirus, with a four-month delay. The original date of May4th had to be postponed because it was right in the middle of the pandemic. The new date of September 5th will see the Kentucky Derby kick-off for the first time ever with no people watching, to avoid further spread of the contagion.

In 2019 the Kentucky Derby generated $165.5Mworth of legal bets, and organisers are expecting a similar figure this year.
