The NASCAR Xfinity Series Was Won and Lost by Kyle Busch With a Disqualification After Car Inspection

July 20, 2020

Austin Cindric was declared the winner of the NASCAR Xfinity race despite coming in 0.949 seconds behind Kyle Busch. TheNo.54 Joe Gibbs Toyota driven by Busch failed to pass inspection. The left rear of the vehicle measured too low, so instead of celebrating what would have been his 98th victory, the win was handed over to Cindric.

Cindric was reported as saying that he had already changed out of his driving gear when he realised that something was a miss with car No. 54. Despite the unusual victory, Cindric, who is the Team Penske president’s son, said he was happy to win no matter the circumstances.

It was not all bad news for Busch, however, as he came back to take out his fifth Texas Truck Series race. He clocked up an impressive overall 59 wins in the series, and a stunning 212 NASCAR top three series wins including 56 wins in the actual cup series,

Busch’s Victory Lane celebration had already been performed before he found out his car was disqualified for failing the inspection.
