Here’s why Packers win over 49ers doesn’t feel like revenge

November 6, 2020

Aaron Rodgers continued his fine form passing for 305 yards and four touchdowns in Green Bay’s 34-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday Night Football. If you thought this win might feel like revenge for the Packers’ loss in last season’s NFC Championship Game - you were wrong.

The team out on the field was nothing like last year’s 49ers. Heck, the team on Thursday night looked nothing like last week’s 49ers!

Compared to last season, this week’s 49ers team didn’t feature a single offensive player who touched the ball in their 37-20 NFC Championship win.

This is possible due to the horrifying luck of the 49ers with injuries and CoVid-19 in 2020. Currently, there is close to $80 million in cap hit on the 49ers Injured Reserve list. A list which features some big names like:

  • Jimmy Garoppolo
  • Richard Sherman
  • Solomon Thomas
  • Nick Bosa
  • Dee Ford
  • George Kittle

What makes the cap hit harder to digest is that it doesn’t include the close to $19 million of contracts sitting on the CoVid-19 Reserve list through players Trent Williams, Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk Kendrick Bourne.
