It’s never been confirmed but for much of the sports community, this season would be the farewell tour for New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees. One last run at a championship after disappointing exits in recent years.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be for the Saints as they went down to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-20.
While Brees didn’t get to enjoy the on-field moment he would have wanted, he did get to share one last moment with fellow NFL journeyman Tom Brady.
After the cameras had exited and the stadium was quiet, Brees and his family headed onto the field at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to take ‘it’ all in. Tom Brady joined them on the field as he took the time to show his respect and say his goodbyes to a player who shares a similar situation to him.
The icing on the cake was Tom Brady throwing a touchdown pass to Brees’ son Baylen, before telling his brother Callen “be nice to your sister”. It was a touching moment, captured by NFL Network reporter James Palmer.
