Green Bay Packers All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari suffered a non-contact injury to his knee during Thursday’s practice .It is believed that the injury is a torn ACL. However, further scans and tests are needed to ascertain the extent of the damage.
Coach of the Packers, Matt La Fleur, confirmed that Bakhtiari will now miss the remainder of the season and described it as a “freaky deal” during non-contact practice.
Likely league MVP Aaron Rodgers told ESPN that he had received Bakhtiari’s phone call giving him the bad news. Rodgers noted that it was a terrible situation and that it was “still a little raw” and still grieving over his brother and teammate.
Rodgers has built a close friendship with the star left tackle since he was drafted in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL draft. becoming a starter in his rookie year, Bakhtiari has gone on to enjoy a successful career individually, and it came to a culmination just last month when he said the richest lineman contract in NFL history - averaging out to be $23million per year.
